Welcome to CADRE

CADRE is Johns Hopkins University research center dedicated to research, development, analysis and publication of technical work in the field of propulsion and energetics.

CADRE’s mission is to serve as the touchstone of propulsion and energetics research within the aerospace-defense community; acting as the core for knowledge and expertise, adding value with trusted research and objective analysis, and connecting people and resources-all to ensure that the community is efficient, effective, and vigorous in solving the complex problems of national interest.

CADRE fields of interest and responsibly include system and component level technologies for chemical, electrical, and nuclear propulsion for rockets, missiles, space and gun propulsion systems; as well as performance, safety and handling of energetics and explosives. CADRE also provides the technical and administrative support for Joint Army-Navy-NASA-Air Force (JANNAF) Interagency Propulsion Committee, the primary technical information exchange platform for the U.S. propulsion industry.

As a knowledgeable and objective participant in supporting industry research and development, CADRE assists sponsors in maximizing increasingly limited research and development funding by focusing on key propulsion system technology needs through objective research, technical assessments, workshops, and symposia.
